Scholarship Undergraduate Exchange Program in the US



The Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U. S. Department of State, is pleased to announce a new exchange program for undergraduate students-the 2010 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)

The Global UGRAD Program provides scholarships for one semester or one academic year of U.S. Study in a NON-DEGREE Program. The goals of the program are to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders, from non-elite and underrepresented groups in Indonesia and East Asia.

All global UGRAD Program participants will be enrolled full-time in undergraduate course work chosen from the institution’s (US) existing curriculum to allow students ample opportunity for ongoing interaction with U.S. Faculty and student peers, and for exposure to U.S. academic and classroom culture..

To ensure that students succeed in their new academic environments, host institutions will offer tailored instruction on topics including academic research and writing, critical thinking, time management, note taking, and studying for and taking tests. Participants will live on campus with American peers.

Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in up to ten hours of community service per semester. Additionally, an internship component will be offered to all academic-year participants during the academic component of the program. Internships will be related to each participant’s field of study and/or career plans.

Participants may be eligible for up to 4 weeks of intensive English Language instruction in the United States prior to the start of academic portion of their program.

Eligibility:

1/ Scholarships will be granted to students who currently are enrolled in S-1 degree programs only, and have completed their first semester and up to their firth semester of undergraduate study at an Indonesian university.

2/ Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.

3/ Applicants must have minimum Institutional TOEFL score of 500-score less than two years old. In some cases a personal interview by a fluent qualified Native English Speaker who can confirm that the nominee would be able to achieve that score when tested is acceptable. Candidates must also meet all the requirements of the institution where admission is being sought.

4/ Preference will be given to those who have had little or NO experience in the U.S. or outside of their home countries.

5/ Applications can be for either for one semester or two semesters based on nominee’s availability. No applications should be submitted for both one semester and full year programs.

6/ Applicants are required to return to Indonesia after the completion of the one or two semester program.

Scholarship by Rotary Foundation

Applicants :

Interested applicants must apply for Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships through their local Rotary club. Because timelines vary, only your local club can provide specific information about application deadlines. For 2010-11 awards, club deadlines may be as early as 1 March 2009 or as late as 15 August 2009. Remember that availability varies by Rotary district. If your local district is not offering scholarships at this time, try inquiring next year.

Use the Club Locator to find contact information for Rotary clubs. If your hometown does not have a Rotary club, try entering the names of nearby cities. You can also consult a local telephone directory.

Applicants should complete the 2010-11 application, carefully researching possible institutions of study. There is no need to apply for or take language tests at this time.

All 2010-11 scholarship applicants will receive notification of their study institution assignments (as long as their applications were submitted by the 1 October district deadline).

February 2010
All 2010-11 scholarship recipients will receive a packet of information from the Foundation. This material outlines the steps they’re required to com plete in preparation for their term.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AT HONGKONG UNIVERSITY

Yew Chung Community College (YCCQ was established by Yew Chung Education Foundation as an international Liberal Arts Mumanities post-secondary/higher education College taking in school leavers with appropriate qualifications and offering them courses leading to an Associate Degree as a good means of transferring to further study at University.

Admission to the One-year University Foundation Diploma is from Form 5 in Hong
Kong schools or Year 11 in international schools with 5 passes in HKCEEACCSEIGCSE, one of which must be English, or the equivalent from another system. Admission to the Associate Degree Programme is from successful completion of the UFD Programme, or directly from the end of secondary education (Form 7 in Hong Kong and Years 12 or 13 in international and overseas education systems) with 5 passes at HKaEtIGCSE/GCSE, one of which must be English + I A Level or 2 AS levels or the equivalent from another system.

Applicants should have reasonable competence in English at IELTS Level 5.5 or better, since they will be immersed in English within the College where the medium of teaching and learning is English.

YCCC has articulation agreements with 35 Universities around the world in USA, UK, Australia, Europe and Canada, and has had Programmes accepted as suitable prior learning for entry into a number of Hong Kong and Asian Universities. YCCC's AD graduates, who meet the necessary requirements set by individual universities, have a wide choice of further study opportunities and can enter into around 100 or more different degree course*. The articulation agreements enable AD graduates with an appropriate CPA and IELTS level to enter into the second year of three-year bachelor degree courses, or to transfer credits and complete a bachelor's degree in two years. A few universities offer to take students into the final year of a degree course (top-up degree courses).

The College has small classes (around 10 to 20) and a highly interactive and tutorial style of teaching and teaming which is much appreciated by the students. As one student puts it- 'For me YCCC is a very special College. The teachers come from different places and they all have rich teaching experience. In YCCC I can use my own ways for teeming. Graduate scholarship at AEU University

THERE ARE AN OPPRORTUNITY FOR INDONESIAN TALENTED SCHOLAR FOR GRADUATE DEGREE AT UNITED ARAB EMIRATES UNIVERSITY

I. INFORMATION


1. Ph. D. students must be full time for all students.
2. All Ph.D. students will be supported by a scholarship that will include:
  • Tax free stipend of 10,000 AED monthly
  • Furnished housing provided by university
  • Health insurance for student, spouse and up to three children
  • Textbooks will be provided
  • Round trip air tickets to home country for student, spouse and up to three children(for expatriate students) annually.
  • Tuition will be charged for the Ph.D. program on a credit hour basis and all admitted students will be eligible to receive sponsorships of tuition. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program who do not receive external sponsorships will be eligible for University sponsorship of tuition charges.
4. The expected duration of the Ph.D. program will be 3-4 years post Bachelor’s degree or 2-3 years post Master’s degree
5. The program will consist of at least one year’s graduate level course work, passing of a qualifying examination and successful completion of a dissertation.
6. The host department prepare the exact nature of a Ph.D. students’ program and approved by the Board of Graduate Research Studies.
7. Study available include all areas currently presented by the faculties and colleges at UAEU. Discipline field names will be used such as chemical engineering, physics, history, etc.

II.REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum GPA Expectation:
  • 3.5 out of 4.0 for final 60 credit hours of Bachelor degree.
  • 3.5 out of 4.0 for Masters Course work of Master degree
  • Minimum TOEFL score – 575 expected
3. GRE scores will be considered; GMAT scores for Business will be considered. These scores are not required but will strengthen the application.
4. Two letters of recommendation are required
5. After receipt of the completed application form and supporting information as outlined in the next section, an application proposal will be prepared by host department and will require the approval of the department chair and college dean. This proposal will include a statement of personal goals from the candidate and a description of the proposal program of work.
6. The proposal will be considered by the Board of Graduate Research Studies and a recommendation made to the Provost who will make the final decision as to acceptance into the program.
7. Each of the following will be considered in reaching a decision whether or not to approve enrollment and the proposed course of study:
  • Candidates suitability, academic achievements and potential
  • Suitability and research record of supervisor and, if applicable, co-supervisor(s)
  • Suitability and research record of thesis advisory committee membership
  • Department facilities or their equivalent
  • Proposed coursework, including learning outcome goals
  • Proposed thesis topic or general area of research(exact topic may be approved later)
  • Eligibility and admission to the Ph.D. program are independent of the applicant’s tuition sponsorship.

III. HOW TO APPLY
